Judge Booras received his law degree from Nova Southeastern university in 1986.
For the 14 years preceding his election to the Bench, Judge Booras was the Chief Assistant State Attorney for the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida. He began his legal career as a prosecutor in 1985, then spent six years in private practice before returning to prosecution in 1993. Since that time, he has been the Chief of the County Court division and training director. He was the Chair of the Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association’s Education Committee, serving on the committee for 12 years.
During his time as a prosecutor, Judge Booras received numerous awards which include:

- Mothers Against Drunk Drivers Florida Prosecutor of the Year Award - 1997
- Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, Treasure Coast Prosecution Award - 1995 & 2000
- Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association Distinguished Faculty Award - 1996 & 2003, and Publication Award - 2005
- Palm Beach County Traffic Safety Commission, Achievements in Prosecution Award - 1986, 1993, 1996, & 2000
Judge Booras has lectured regularly throughout Florida on the topics of ethics, drunk driving, and domestic violence. He continues to lecture nationally on ethics.
Judge Booras served four years on active duty in the United States Marine Corps earning an Honorable Discharge with the rank of sergeant. He also spent twelve years in the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary, achieving the rank of captain.
Judge Booras has also been involved in numerous community activities over the years, as an Assistant Scout Master with a local Boy Scout Troop, and as a youth soccer coach.
Judge Booras was elected to the County Court Bench in September 2006, and started his term in January 2007.
