ARRAIGNMENTS
In all cases the Clerk routinely set all arraignments for Monday mornings at 8:30 a.m. at which time all defendants shall be present. If a written plea of not guilty has been filed then the Court will set a case Disposition date 30-45 days after the scheduled arraignment.
CASE DISPOSITIONS
Case dispositions/Plea Conferences will be scheduled Tuesday through Friday mornings at 8:30 a.m.
SHORT MOTION HEARINGS
Any motions which are either uncontested or will consume no longer than 5 minutes will be scheduled Tuesday through Friday mornings at 8:30 a.m. Opposing counsel shall receive reasonable notice. Attorneys are encouraged to provide a “courtesy copy” of the motion with the Court prior to the hearing.
LONG MOTIONS
Any motions longer than 5 minutes will be set by the Court after receipt of a courtesy copy. Usually, motions to suppress will be set in conjunction with the calendar call of the case and be heard during the 2-week calendar call period. If set separately from the calendar call of the case, after the Court setting, the moving party must file a notice of hearing to all parties
CONTINUANCES
Any continuation cannot be continued by agreement, only by the Court. If a party desires to continue a matter without court hearing, the motion must be in writing, with a courtesy copy to the Court accompanied with a proposed order. The Court will review the motion, and either order a new court date in chambers or will have the judicial assistant set a court hearing.
PRELIMINARY VIOLATIONS OF PROBATION
Will be set Tuesday through Friday at 8:30 a.m.
TRIAL PERIODS
Trials will be heard during the 2-week period following calendar call
Calendar calls will be heard the Thursday preceding 2-week trial period, unless special circumstances arise and the date must be moved. All trial motions, including motions to suppress, will be set with the calendar call date and run with the on-call status of that trial.
